I hope you’re enjoying things so far. A little recap, our corporate executive Sanford Rains has fast talked a star port official to allowing the Cosmic Odyssey to break the lockdown that is in place from a shooting that occurred, and the perpetrator is still at large. After the Star port locked several missiles on the ship Sanford used the threat of his corporate connections to allow the Odessey to continue on its way.
So now the Odessey is on its way from the Star port Heritage, I’m going to roll on the space encounters table.

Roll D66 for ship malfunction - 45 Radiation leak
Hmm, this could be interesting.
Alarms lights and sirens echoed around the Cosmic Odyssey.
“Attention, attention, radiation leak has been detected.” The monotone voice intoned around the ship.
Chief Technician Jerry Vasconcelos’s voice came over the ship’s comms. “All personnel report to the bridge, all personnel to the bridge.” A pause, “That includes you and your stowaway Rains.”
The crew is used to handling emergencies, but Sanford Rains is not, so we’ll make a stress roll for him.
Roll 2D6 - 6 is a failure.
Sanford’s intelligence score is now 6 (7)
Sanford is stunned for a round as he freezes listening to the automatic alarm for the radiation leak.
The crew is soon assembled on the bridge of the Odyssey. A tall elegant, blonde-haired woman hurried through the door and heaved a large box onto a table.
“Hey Doc, what you got there?” Jerry wandered over, curious in spite of himself.
Dr. Kory Novara smiled thinly, clicked the locks on the box and threw back the lid, “Anti rad stims.” She declared pulling out several tubes full of an amber liquid and laying them out on the table.
So, we need to make an engineering roll to diagnose the problem.
Jerry has an engineering skill of 2 and the captain can assist with a skill of 1.
Roll 2D6 (+3) - 11.
The issue has been diagnosed within the first hour (50 minutes roughly)
Issue: Need to realign the primary differential phase resonator.
This was rolled up using the “She Cannae Take It V1.1” from Itch.io
The first repair attempt will take 1D6+1 hours to fix.
Roll 1D6+1: 5
The captain will try an engineering roll to see if he can give Jerry a bonus for the “fix it” roll.
Roll 2D6+1: 7 (He failed, so Jerry gets a -1 to his repair roll.)
Jerry will now try his engineering repair roll to fix the radiation leak.
Roll 2D6 +1 (taking the -1 from the captains failed repair roll)
Result of 10 - Success! After 5 hours the issue has been resolved.
After loading up on the anti rad stims proved by Doctor Novara, Jerry and Dominick make their way to the source of the radiation leak.
After almost an hour of investigation and tinkering Jerry grunted in approval.
“What is it?” Dominick asked as he leaned in to see what Jerry was examining.
“This.” Jerry moved back and pointed to a nondescript looking piece of circuitry.”
The captain looked at his chief technician none the wiser, “Can you fix it?”
Jerry nodded, “Just give me a little bit and I’ll see what I can do hoss.”
Captain Dominick Sambrano patted his old friend on the shoulder and heaved himself away from the confined space they were working in. “Let me know if you need anything chief, I’m gonna head back up to the bridge.”
Jerry grunted in response.
Back on the bridge the ship’s security team, Jamal Cusolito and Kristi Lacap, both ex colonial marines watched the newcomer carefully, pistols covering her.
Standing quietly beside Sanford, the young girl’s face is shrouded in the shadow of the hooded cloak she wore.
Captain Sambrano arrives back on the bridge, he paused and looked enquiringly at the cloaked newcomer. “So, Rains, who is this?”
Jamal Cusolito cleared his throat, “This is the shooter from the Heritage Captain.”
“The what?” Dominick stared at Rains in shock. “You bring a killer aboard my ship?”
Here I’ll make a social roll for Sanford Rains in the face of Captain Sambrano’s anger.
Sanford social bonus is +2 v the captains of +1.
So, roll 2D6 +1: 8 success.
Sanford Rains looks at the irate Captain with a sly smile on his face, “But Captain Sambrano, she is part of the deal for the payment of the half a million dollars.”
Gasps echoed around the bridge from several of the crew as they hear the huge number.
“Also” Rains continued triumphantly, “The planet we are going to has an unsurveyed seam of precious stones, which I’m happy to give to you and your crew.” He said with a dramatic sweep of his arm.
“Half a million?” Jamal muttered under his breath giving the captain an accusing look.
“I haven’t had a chance to talk to you all.” Dominick responded, staring icily at Rains.
Let’s roll a reaction roll for Jamal, since he seems to think he’s being ripped off.
Roll 2D6: 8, a success, just.
So, although annoyed Jamal trusts Captain Sambrano has his interests at heart.
“Whoa, whoa, what are you doing?” Kristi Lacap, the other half of the Cosmic Odessey’s security team had her gun raised pointed at the cloaked young woman standing next to Sanford Rains. Light glinted off the metal of her cybernetic arm as she motioned for Sanford to move away from the girl.
“Stop what you’re doing.” She yelled out and stepped forward, the Redhawk auto pistol rock solid in her two-handed grip.
The young woman stood focused on the growing ball of light slowly growing between her hands.
“I said stop.” Kristi stepped within about five feet of the young woman who continued to ignore her. The ball of light continued to grow, sparkling and twinkling in the dim light of the bridge. Suddenly she closed her hands and blew into them, the light winked out instantly. Without another word she briefly stared at Kristi, then turned and without a word walked off the bridge, the doors hissing closed behind her.
“What the hell was that?” Kristi spat in disgust.
Overhead the monotone voice of the ship’s computer came over the speakers, “Radiation leak has been contained, I repeat radiation leak has been contained.”
“Hey Doc.” Jamal called over to Kory Novara, “You didn’t dose her with anti rad?”
Kory shook her head and glanced back at the door.
The intercom buzzed and Captain Sambrano leaned over and punched a button, “What is it chief?”
Chief’s voice crackled out of the speaker, “Well, you’re not going to believe this.”
“What happened?” Dominick demanded.
“Ok so, I was setting the differential phase resonator back its housing and everything lit up and started working, so it looks like we’re good to go.”
Confusion briefly crossed Dominick’s face, “It’s fixed?”
“That’s what it looks like.” The chief replied through the crackling intercom.
“Alright, get back up here and we’ll plot the hyperspace jump.”
“You got it hoss.” The chief clicked off the intercom.
“I’ll make sure Vergis is alright.” Sanford said quickly and followed the cloaked woman through the door.
Kristi looked at her marine companion, “Jamal, what the fuck just happened?”
The big man just shrugged.
So let’s do a relationship roll for our two ex-marines.

So, when Kristi was saving a bunch of colonists from some marauding xenomorphs, (per her bio) Jamal was with her and they were basically abandoned when their unit was wiped out and the other colonial marine units withdrew. They battled and saved a bunch of colonists although Kristi lost her arm, and Jamal saved her life with prompt medical attention. For her efforts Kristi gained a silver star, a cybernetic and a medical discharge. Since this event, Jamal and Kristi have been inseparable and trust each other implicitly.
Now we’ll do a piloting roll for Capt. Sambrano to get the Odessey to the hyperspace point without issue.
Roll 2D6 (+4): 11, success. The Odyssey arrived at the hyperspace point without incident, the crew enters their sleep pods, and the Odyssey makes its pre-programmed jump (courtesy of Sanford giving Sambrano the coordinates) into hyperspace.
We’ll check to see if hyperspace travel is interrupted.
Roll 2D6: 8, so no interruption.
After twelve days of flight through hyperspace the Odyssey arrives in orbit around Planet AR811
